Mary, did you Know?

☀️Welcome to #3 of 3 posts looking at the use of essential oils during ancient days and some of the similarities that carry on today.

Mary, did you Know?
>>>>Luke 2:12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”
🎄Every year during family Christmas I direct and organize a very simple play using my kids, nieces and nephews. We meet in the basement, assign roles and lines, and walk through how this year’s play will go. The other adults enjoy this quiet time upstairs and also really enjoy watching our special production when it is ready. You never know what will
happen!
🎁In the past, I brought small containers to symbolize the gifts given to baby Jesus by the three wise men but now, I own all three, gold, Frankincense essential oil (love my Frank!) & Myrrh essential oil (that word is super hard for me to spell…).
I loved learning more about myrrh in in Healing Oils of the Bible by David Stewart Ph.D.
He writes, “When Joseph and Mary received the gift of myrrh from the kings of the orient (Matthew 2:11), the wise men did not have to explain the use of the oil to Mary. She knew that the myrrh was antiseptic and should be placed on the navel of the newborn child so that there would be no infection with the sloughing of the umbilical cord. Mary also knew it would come in handy later on protecting her child from things like coughs, sore throats, thrush, ringworm and gum infections. She knew myrrh would be a good thing to have to soothe and heal the little cuts and bruises that all little boy experience in their growing up. She knew these things because all the women of her time knew about these things.
⭐️”The wise men didn’t have to explain to Mary that myrrh could heal scar tissue and remove the stretch marks of pregnancy, either. Mary would have known exactly what to do, to rub her abdomen with the oil until the stretch marks disappeared. All of the women of her time would have also known about that, too.”
🎉This year our family is gathering on New Year’s Eve to celebrate Christmas. My middle sister and her family have been in China for most of December adopting a son. We all met their family yesterday at the airport! We are all anticipating spending more time with this sweet boy and his participation in this year’s Christmas production. What precious times ahead!
❤️Love to you and yours this holiday season.
Question: How does your family celebrate the holiday season?
